His background was not religious, but when Michael Hollinger married a Catholic girl he got an eye-opening education. Touring a cathedral, his eye was caught by a discreet sign directing visitors to the finger of a saint.

Hollinger turned to his wife, "They don't really have someone’s finger in there, do they?"

"Oh sure," replied his wife, explaining about holy relics. This was the impetus for Hollinger’s comedy, Incorruptible.
