is a widely produced playwright. Past New York productions of her work include Mauritius; The Scene, The Water’s Edge, Loose Knit, The Family of Mann, Spike Heels, Bad Dates, and many more. Her newest play, The Understudy, ran in New York as part of the Roundabout Theatre’s 2009–2010 season.
In addition to her plays, Mrs. Rebeck has published two novels and spent years writing for television on such shows as NYPD Blue, Law and Order: Criminal Intent, and L.A. Law.
She was awarded the William Inge New Voices Playwriting Award in 2003. Mauritius was originally produced at Boston’s Huntington Theatre, where it received the 2007 IRNE Award for Best New Play and the Eliot Norton Award.
Originally from Cincinnati, Ms. Rebeck holds a PhD. from Brandeis University. She is a proud board member of the Dramatists Guild and lives in Brooklyn with her husband and two children.
