After seven seasons and over 400 performances in the role of Scrooge at the Goodman Theatre ,
Tom Mula  became intrigued by a complaint from a friend’s daughter that it wasn’t fair that Marley be condemned for eternity while Scrooge got a second chance at life.  Tom agreed and wrote a book, Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol, in 1995.

The book took off and Mula adapted it into a play. The  show received an After Dark Award and the Cunningham Prize for Playwriting from the Goodman School of Drama.

An Artist-in-Residence at Columbia College, he is one of Chicago’s busiest actors and directors.
